The mosquito problem

So a vast majority voted in the last poll that we should purchase a quite expensive mosquito net to keep the mosquitoes from feasting on us while we slept. Nature had it's own ideas as to how to beat the mossies...

Because there's no central air or heating here, we leave the windows open quite a bit, which lets in a fair amount of mosquitoes. However it also let's in a fair amount of spiders. By letting the spiders do their thing in the corners between the ceiling and the walls or behind the toilet and sink, they've been catching the mosquitoes for us. As I'm cleaning today, I'm selectively leaving the spider webs up so that they continue to trap and kill the bloodthirsty bugs. Thanks nature!

Keep up the voting! We really enjoy it.

Cheers,
~S

Mosquito catcher from Hints From Heloise:
Add a few drops of JOY
LEMON liquid dish detergent into a small plate of water near the window. The mosquitos land for a bit of "lemonaid".
They drink . . . they die! HA!

If it works, let me know!

hi
I never responded on the mosquitos, but I'd go for the net!
They also sell little portable screens to put in windows.
We used a net years ago when Jesse was a baby as they chewed her up! We tucked it under the waterbed mattress, as that was the only way to keep them from slipping under the net.
Also, patchouli oil repels them if you like that scent. Perhaps in the window sill as Bonnie suggested.
I've tried it all here in SWFL, above all sleeping with socks on prevents the most excruciating foot and toe itch they can give.
I have tried deet when outdoors and it works great, they say avon's skin so soft repels them too, and also citronella candles, but these all can irrtitate the sinuses.
Try a ceiling fan or oscillating fan, too, blow those creeps away! And I agree, keep the non poisonous spiders!
love ya
